Santa Lucía is one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Cartagena: it was already a seaside suburb in Roman times, and for centuries it was home to fishermen and harbour workers. On its quay stands the statue of St James, at the spot where tradition places his arrival in the Iberian Peninsula.
